About

The Department of Sanskrit (Vedic Studies) was established in the year 2015 to offer Post Graduation Degree in the field of Vedic Literature. At the very beginning, the department was started by contractual teachers and guest faculties with 26 students. Initially, Dr. Pranabjyoti Deka and Dr. Maitreyee Goswami contributed their services on contractual basis. Later on, Miss Rinki Deka, Miss Dhritismita Deka and Mr. Madan Haloi rendered their services as guest faculties. In the month of July 2018, Dr. Pranabjyoti Deka, Dr. Bornali Borthakur and Mr. Pavan Kumar Pandey and in the month of February 2021, Dr. Sanu Sinha joined the Department as permanent faculty members. It is worth-mentioning that, in the year 2014, Integrated MA in Sanskrit under school of Sanskrit Studies was also started where Dr. Pranabjyoti Deka was the Course Coordinator till June 2018.
