About

Assamese Department was established in the year 2015. Initially the department was run by qualified contractual teachers and guest faculties. Assamese Department is presently providing M.A. in Assamese with specialization of papers in History of Sanskrit Sahitya, Comparative Indian Literature, Western Literature, Translation Studies, Bhakti movement & Literature, Tibetan-Barman Language of Assam, Dialectology and Pali, Prakit, Apabhransha and Comparative Grammar of Indo-European Language, History of Assamese literature, Drama an d Stage Craft, Novel, Assamese Drama and women Literature, Ethnic Language Study, Study of Ethnic Literature and Culture with some skill based value added course.
Now Assamese Department introduces MPhil Programme in the Year of 2021. The MPhil Syllabus aims at reflecting on the culture, literature and heritage of Assam. The course is primarily divided into two parts-Theory and Practical. It seeks to orient the students with a scientific attitude to do research in culture and literature. The researchers will become introduce with research methodology through this curriculum. Moreover the researchers will be efficient to contribute to the society thinking form new prospective about the tradition of ancient language, literature and culture.
